I am so honoured to be apart of Monday night’s Global Citizen Kelowna’s Speaker Series and introduction to Okello Kelo Sam from North Hope in Uganda. It was a night filled with hope and belief with peace building. This event was held by JCI Okanagan.
Amongst Okello, we had our very own local talent- Rawle from Inspired Word Cafe and Karine Veldhoen from Niteo Africa Society. The evening began with a global marketplace of over 20 locally based organizations and communities. In attendance, the evening brought over 250 individuals to learn about Okello’s experiences. Okello was a young boy when he was abducted from his family, his bravery and inspiration to his life definitely brought in a fresh concept to peace. Okello is the founder of Hope North, an educational and healing for young victims of Uganda’s Civil War. Today Okello has assisted and taken in over 3000 victims and is married with 3 beautiful children.
